Basics Class
Emphasizes basic movements including footwork, falling skills (ukemi), body integration, and development of a strong center. Techniques are presented at a pace that allows beginning students to develop an understanding of movement. This class is open to all ranks. New students benefit from practice with more experienced members of the dojo.


General Class
Emphasizes development of techniques and moves more quickly than the basics class. Development of supple, effective ukemi is stressed. Practice with multiple partners and weapons training is included. Open to all members of the dojo.



Children's Class
Emphasizes the development of movement with emphasis on balance, coordination, grace, and stability resulting from increased physical or kinesthetic sensitivity. Aikido techniques are taught emphasizing the importance of conflict resolution without aggression. Aiki games reinforce these skills and ideas. Children ages 5 to 14 are eligible. Mature 4 year olds may be considered for the children's class, and mature 13-14 year olds may be considered for the adult classes.



Open Practice
Members are encouraged to practice before, between and after scheduled classes. Sunday mornings are designated as open practice, and experienced members of the dojo are available for guidance. These times may be utilized for creative development and to prepare for examinations.



Ukemi Class
Emphasizes exercises designed to teach blending with attacks and proper techniques for falls and rolls. These classes are recommended for all students, but may be of particular value to new students.



Iaido Class
A sword art. laido develops balance, posture, appreciation of center line and zanshin (focus). The art utilizes practice metal blades and consists of a series of kata that are practiced independently. Iaido is available only to aikido students and requires prior approval of instructor.
